The largest annual Para sports experience day, “Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2023 cum 100 Days Countdown of Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games,” was successfully held at the Hong Kong Sports Institute on Sunday, 23 July 2023. The event drew an enthusiastic response with nearly 2,500 participants.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun Hung GBS JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism , as the guest of honor, who joined other officiating guests in kicking off the grand opening of Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2023.
The Operator guests also teamed up with athletes Wong Ka Man, Wan Wai Lok and Chu Man Kai to experience the intensity of table Tennis and badminton exhibition matches, which captivated the audience with thrilling and engaging performances. Mr. Kevin Yeung, along with athletes Wong Ka Man and Chu Man Kai achieved consecutive victories in the table tennis and badminton trials.
Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2023 also featured athletes sharing session by badminton athlete Chan Ho Yuen, Boccia athlete Cheung Yuen and Athletics athlete Chong Kung Yuen shared their experiences and anecdotes of participating in Major Multi-sports Games, as well as their preparations for the upcoming Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games in October.
Embracing the theme of the 100 Days Countdown to Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games, the event showcased memorabilia from the games and past Asian Para Games medals. The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games mascot “Fei Fei” made its debut appearance in Hong Kong, joining the Hongkongers in the countdown and promoting the spirit of the Asian Para Games while cheering on Hong Kong’s athletes in advance.
