Congratulations to the para athletes and coaches who have made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong’s disability sports, receiving these honours!
Three boccia gold medalists of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, including Ho Yuen Kei, who won two gold medals in the Women’s Individual BC3 and Mixed Doubles BC3, her mixed doubles partner Tse Tak-wah, and the Men’s Individual BC1 champion John Loung, were awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star. Chan Yui Lam, the silver medalist in the women’s S14 100m butterfly, along with Cheung Yuen, two silver boccia medalists, and Ng Cheuk Yan, the bronze medalist in the women’s S6 100m breaststroke, were awarded Medal of Honour. Mr. Chan Yan Kit, Para Badminton Team Head Coach, Ms Leung Shuk Ying, Para Swimming (Intellectual Disability) Coach, and Mr. Lau Wai Ki, Tse Tak Wah’s coach and Competition Partner were also awarded the Medal of Honor. Mr. Kong Chun Yin, Para Swimming coach, was awarded with Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service.
The awards made the efforts of disabled athletes and coaches to be seen by more people. We hope society will be aware of the further development of disability sports!
