Tender for Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2023

As a national member (NPC), Hong Kong Paralympic Committee (HKPC) is encouraged to organise Paralympic Day aiming to promote the Paralympic Movement in its local community. The “Hong Kong Paralympic Day” was first held in 2016 and then 2018 to tie in with the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games held in the same year as the 100-day countdown of the two games. In October 2022, the Hong Kong Paralympic Day returned and has turned out to be the largest Para sports event in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Paralympic Day 2022 (HKPD 2022) was with a great success that it attracted over 2,600 participants, more than 30 news clippings as well as many positive comments from the participants about the meaningful experience. With main objectives to raise public awareness about Para sports and to cultivate the seed of being potential Para athletes, HKPD 2022 offered an array of programs including classification and athlete sharing sessions, Para sports demonstrations, an opening ceremony attended by main government officials, sports athletes, and representatives from national sports associations. To immerse the public with real experience of Para sports, 17 booths including but not limited to Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Boccia, Para Table Tennis, Wheelchair Fencing were set up for providing lively sports trials. Moreover, an exhibition with panels showing the Paralympics history and Hong Kong’s Para sports development, as well as showcases with medals of top-notch Para athletes were organised, which finally became one of the popular highlights throughout the day. In July 2023, Hong Kong Paralympic Day is returning to the city to continue pushing forward the promotion of the Paralympic Movement.
